From the Founder
Mitten Box began as an idea years ago, back when I owned a marketing company in Detroit.
We worked with incredible local businesses, and I kept thinking the same thing: more people should know about these products, these makers, and the Michigan stories behind them.
Then life got busy. Businesses. Family. A breast cancer diagnosis and treatment.
The idea stayed with me and my family, even as we owned and operated Stella’s, a local restaurant named after our service dog, years later. There, we sourced from as many Michigan companies as possible and kept discovering just how much talent, flavor, and ingenuity lives right here in our state.
In 2024, I returned to the idea of Mitten Box.
That same year, I was diagnosed with breast cancer again. At first, starting another family business felt impossible.
But as treatment continued, something shifted. I didn’t want to make my world smaller. I wanted to build something meaningful. Something joyful. Something our whole family could create together. Something my father would have been very proud of. And something that could give back to the Michigan cancer community that had become such an important part of our lives.
Mitten Box was born on Mother’s Day 2025.
Our mission is simple: celebrate and support the farmers, makers, dreamers, and entrepreneurs who make Michigan extraordinary.
As a family, we take great pride in finding the very best of our state. We sample everything and share only the products we truly love. Some are iconic Michigan favorites. Others are hidden gems we cannot wait for you to discover.
And because this story is also about resilience, care, and community, we donate a portion of our annual revenue to New Day Foundation for Families. Their work helps Michigan families manage the very real financial and emotional burdens of cancer treatment.
Every box is filled with Michigan flavor, Michigan creativity, and a whole lot of heart.
It is, quite simply, a big Michigan hug.
