Witt’s Maple Syrup - A Family Story

Building in Kerrytown in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Great morning! Marc and I met the guys from Witt’s Maple Syrup to pick up six more cases. They came down to Ann Arbor from Boyne Falls for the farmer’s market. We’ve had their traditional syrup for almost a year and we’re adding their Bourbon Maple Syrup to our lineup this fall.

It’s aged in the highest quality Bourbon Barrels to bring a unique sweet and smoky flavor! Perfect for cocktails, desserts, and a good twist to your morning pancakes. Does not contain alcohol. 🍁

Witt’s story … Family owned! We started tapping maple trees with our neighbors in 2001. We had just a couple dozen buckets and boiled the sap on a flat pan over an open fire. This quickly expanded and the following season we purchased our own evaporator and setup a tubing system on 250 trees. Throughout the years, we have expanded and now have 6000+ taps. With two decades of boiling, our process has improved to provide a quality, consistent product that we use in our kitchen and are proud to share to yours! With sustainability in mind, we have chosen to stick with wood fire as we’ve expanded. Our syrup is boiled with local, sustainably harvested hard wood. This method helps make our flavorful syrup but also ensures that we will have plenty of fuel for generations to come.

You can purchase their original syrup here. We’ll be adding the bourbon syrup to our website soon!
